Who Are We?
It’s a love story, really.
Weddings Costa Rica was born out of founder Larissa Banting’s experience planning her own wedding in Costa Rica, marrying the man of her dreams on the very beach where they’d met. Encountering numerous challenges to create her own dream day, despite living in the country and marrying a local, she recognized the need for a dedicated destination wedding design and planning firm.
Since opening its doors in 2003, Weddings Costa Rica has established itself as the foremost wedding design firm in the country. With over 600 weddings to our credit, we’ve planned everything from intimate elopements to extravaganzas of 200+ guests. Our unique design work and attention to the details has garnered international acclaim and a number of ‘firsts’ for the industry in Costa Rica:
First wedding to be featured in an international wedding magazine (Modern Bride, 2007)
First Costa Rican vendor to be invited to the Little Black Book on Style Me Pretty
Only planner in Central or South America to make Destination Weddings and Honeymoon’s original A-List of the Top 30 Planners Worldwide
The Lazy Bride was the first blog by a wedding planner in Costa Rica and has been named one of the Top 100 Wedding Blogs.
We passionately believe that every wedding should be as unique as the couple marrying. Our creativity coupled with meticulous planning and flawless execution ensure your destination wedding is the fun, relaxing experience you imagine.
What makes us different?
For one, we live in Costa Rica full-time. We know the landscape, the vendors and what’s happening.
We wrote the book on Costa Rica…literally! Larissa authored Costa Rica – The Bradt Travel Guide, a best-seller and the first Costa Rican guide to be translated into Russian.
Weddings Costa Rica is internationally acclaimed. Larissa has been invited as a wedding expert to conferences in Greece, Italy and Turkey to share her experiences at a destination planner.
We have a vast experience with ethnic weddings, including Jewish, South Asian, Chinese, Persian and Afghan and we know where to source ghee, mendhi, Kosher caterers, South Asian caterers and rabbis and how to set up the perfect sofreh.
But the one thing that we hear over and over, from both clients and creative professionals, is how stress-free we make the planning process and how calm we are on the day of the event, quietly working behind the scenes to keep things flowing at a relaxed pace that never feels rushed.
At Weddings Costa Rica, we take care of the details so you can relax and enjoy your celebration. Afterall, that’s was Pura Vida is all about.
A shout out to our amazing photographers for their gorgeous work:
